Timothy Henry "Tim" Henman OBEis a retired English professional tennis player. Henman played a serve-and-volley style of tennis. He was the first male player from the United Kingdom since Roger Taylor in the 1970s to reach the semi-finals of the Wimbledon Men's Singles Championship. There's no doubt it's been a difficult 15 or 16 months and that's been probably dominated more by back problems than my results on the court.

It's not easy coming back from a long lay-off but it was great to be back playing. It was my first time back here since I won in 2003. I had great preparation and I've been hitting the ball well in practice, but at the level we are playing at results are the bottom line.

It's been a difficult summer for me. I haven't had any results at all. Actually, in terms of the purpose that I've had, it's been much, much better. That's why when I keep doing the right things, I've got no doubts my results will get better.

Wimbledon is certainly getting harder, I can't deny that. With the nature of my opponents and the nature of the surface it's going to be a tough challenge.

Winning the tiebreak was crucial and I am pleased to get through. The level of tennis was very high in the first set. He is a great athlete with a great physique and he can hit the ball hard.
