Jim and I go back a long way. I was 22 and working on an offshore oil rig, 14 days on and 14 days off, and I shared an apartment with Jim in New York. He was trying to make his way as a musician. I always enjoyed his singing and playing, but I finally figured out how good he really was when I answered the phone one day, and it was Roland White leaving a message for Jim asking him if he was available to play a gig.
