beat devils jersey penalty
One thing I'm sure, we're not going to beat the New Jersey Devils from the penalty box.
conversation sharing
We had a very professional conversation. It was not any kind of confrontation, it was just sharing thoughts.
question
There's no question we'll be better prepared. We should be more competitive off the get-go.
chance doubt ourselves parade stuff
There's no benefit-of-a-doubt stuff in the playoffs. You're in the big parade now and you have to participate. If we give ourselves a chance to play five-on-five hockey, then who knows?
circle clearly club commit explain guys hockey ourselves past sure talking time win
It was time to circle the wagons and clearly explain to the guys that we need to be better and we've got to commit ourselves to what we have been about in the past if we want to do anything with the future. And I'm talking about (tomorrow). We want to make sure we win that game, and to do it, we have to be a much better hockey club than we were tonight.
hoped planned start tough
Pretty deflating. It was a tough start obviously, not what we had hoped and planned for.
certainly expect himself needed offensive player secured spark stage unit
Did we expect him to be on our No. 1 power-play unit at this stage of the season? Maybe, but only as an interim thing or if we needed a spark or whatever. Certainly he's secured himself as an offensive player on our team.
change overtime
Disappointing change in overtime - that wasn't the players' fault.
composure lose
Composure is an important part of the game. If you lose it, you can lose the series.
anybody beyond check develop playing plays rangers team trying win
And we want to win in a way that suggests to anybody that plays this team beyond this year, that you'd better check in and know how the Rangers are playing because that's what you're going to have to live up to. That's what we're trying to develop here.
check felt game leaves mentally needed organized picking plan sort sure
They all felt that they've been well prepared, well organized and that the game plan was appropriate and that they needed to check in mentally and emotionally to go and execute. I'm not sure where that leaves you at the end of the day as a coach. You're still sort of picking straws.
appreciate others power puck shoot shot wish
We shot the puck a lot and I appreciate that and I wish others would shoot more. I think on the power play we could shoot the puck much more.
body check eat takes
Often times, it takes more than one person to check him. You have one person on the body and the other person on the puck. If you try to play him one-on-one, he'll eat you up.
build game ground hard level played
This is a game to build on. The first one was too, but we were in a hole. Now, we're at ground level and we need to keep building. I think that we played hard and showed character.
