I wasn't a Prince fan until I watched Purple Rain. When I watched that, it was one of my favorite movies of all time because it shows the life of an artist.
So for [Alexander Wang] to actually put me in a campaign, I was really honored. I'm excited to see how it comes out because I didn't look at the photos on set; I like to just live in the moment and do what I do and let him and his people put their touch on it.
[Personal life] doesn't affect my creative process. It just gives me more subjects to talk about. Basically whatever you put in your music is how you want people to view you.
Sometimes I say stuff to relate to people. It just really depends, because you don't have to be one type of artist and talk about one thing.
[My son] he loves music, but right now, cars are his thing. He told me when he gets older he wants to be a "Ferrari man" and I was like, "A Ferrari man? Do you want to drive Ferraris or do you want to build them?" He was like, "I want to build them."
I'm focused on what I'm doing and nothing can stop that.
Even going to [ Kanye West] warehouse and modeling for a lot of his new season stuff taught me about my silhouette, how the clothes fit - I've definitely learned a lot being around him.
I never knew that I would be actually designing clothes or as into fashion as I am now.
The first rap album I bought was Eminem's The Slim Shady LP so I wasn't even based on West Coast rap like that.
I didn't get into Tupac [Shakur] until a little later, once I started understanding rap and people's stories. Eminem was the first rapper that I actually started dissecting the lyrics, and once I got attached to his stories, then I started listening to Dr. Dre, then Snoop 'cause they were all under one camp.
Rap is the number one most influential thing, it's the only genre that really strikes a chord. When you sing, you feel a certain way and it makes you feel good, but when you rap, it just strikes a chord a whole different way.
Wake up everyday stronger than yesterday, face your fears and wipe your tears.
You can do nice things for people all of the time and it's never noticed but as soon as you make one mistake it's never forgotten.
We can admire what we see, but we can only love what we truly know.
