We were booked all summer every year without fail. I've had kids tell me while they were here that they had a better time at Shafer Shores than they did at Disney World.

We were concerned that produce that did not meet the size standards of the marketing orders was being thrown away. At the same time there were elderly people who could not afford to have food. We wanted farmers to have an alternative outlet. The idea was to link up the farmer with the consumer through direct marketing.

Well, the state had their National Guard troops here. The state was overwhelmed because of the vast size of this. That's why, in cooperation with the state, when they made that request and said they needed that additional help, we got it to them.
