Our prayer has been from day one that other towns can see that we can do this.

One thing we talked about is being an inexperienced team, when you get adversity, everybody's got to come together and pick it up. I think when they saw Laura go down, who's one of our tougher kids, the kids had a little bit of an emotional letdown.

It was an emotional day for me, it was an emotional day for the girls. We were missing a starter and Shanahan is a big team. It was a hell of a game to start (playing without Jones).

Right after 9/11 there was a magazine with a cover of kids, mostly 12-14 year-olds, who were being trained for military combat. I thought that this had just gone too far.

I think he's going to be a very good baseball player overall. He's got some things to work on defensively -- we all do. He's going to get it in because he's a hard worker.

I brought a cooler, comforter, pillow and snacks, ... I watched the game last night, and decided I'd get here as soon as possible. It's been 12 years since we've been in the playoffs, and I didn't want to miss the opportunity.
