I agree with the other City Council people that I was disappointed in what the mayor said because I thought it was understood what we were going to do, and he didn't say anything about it during the meeting. So he blasted us in the paper.

It's no secret that Maori issues are important to me. I can't hide that - I was the leader of a Maori party! People say that you have to be absolutely unbiased to hold a debate but I believe that's nonsense. I think everyone has a bias; it's how you handle that bias.
