Much better to do one's own work even if you have to do it imperfectly than it is to do somebody elses work perfectly.
attachment follows immediate indeed knowledge mechanical surrender
Better indeed is knowledge than mechanical practice. Better than knowledge is meditation. But better still is surrender of attachment to results, because there follows immediate peace.
anger born demonic marks
Hypocrisy, arrogance, pride, anger, harshness, and ignorance; these are the marks of those who are born with demonic qualities, O Arjuna.
beginning contact delight due man material pleasures sources wise
An intelligent person does not take part in the sources of misery, which are due to contact with material senses. Such pleasures have a beginning and an end, and so the wise man does not delight in them.
action bodily free mere mind senses sin
Free from desires, mind and senses under control, renouncing all proprietorship, doing mere bodily action, one does not incur sin (or Karmic reaction).
cause confusion shall
I shall be the cause of confusion and destruction of all these people.
action becomes behind motive selfish
No one becomes a Karma-yogi who has not renounced the selfish motive behind an action.
burning entire filling powerful radiance universe
Your powerful radiance is burning the entire universe, and filling it with splendor, O Krishna.
carried desires gods practice religious resort various whose wisdom
They, whose wisdom has been carried away by various desires impelled by their own deeds, resort to other gods and practice various religious rites.
behold creation entire whatever
O Arjuna, now behold the entire creation; animate, inanimate, and whatever else you like to see; all at one place in My body.
attain joy perfection
They all attain perfection When they find joy in their work.
deed delusion firm free persons virtuous whose worship
Persons of virtuous deeds, whose deed has come to an end, become free from the delusion of dualities and worship Me with firm resolve.
earth gaining gods kingdom lordship perceive prosperous remove sorrow
I do not perceive that gaining an unrivaled and prosperous kingdom on this earth, or even lordship over the gods will remove the sorrow that is drying up my senses.
acts austerity faults full given others work
Some philosophers say that all work is full of faults and should be given up, while others say that acts of sacrifice, charity, and austerity should not be abandoned.
