He's had a tremendous career, ... He's been there 40-some years, whatever it is, six decades, (won) three Super Bowl championships. He's been the commissioner of the AFL, been a coach.
It's hard enough gaining 10 yards on three downs. If you start trying to gain 12 or 13 or 17 on two, then eventually it's probably going to catch up with you.
I have a lot of respect for what those (three players) have done, especially Rohan, who has been here for three years. He's been a great leader and has done, really, everything that we asked him to.
They're ahead of everybody by two or three touchdowns. Being able to withstand the onslaught in the first quarter, the first half, whatever it is, it sure is going to be important. . . . They get off to a fast start and they keep it rolling and they just run out the clock in the second half.
Every situation is independent. It takes two parties, or three to a point, to make a deal, and when that happens, we have one, and if it doesn't, we don't.
Only three teams had a better record than them. They have a good running game, big receivers, a good front seven and they play well on the road.
I thought there were some good things defensively. It was nice to see the turnovers. I thought we played more competitively in the running game and on third down. But we've only been in camp for three weeks. It's not like we're three or four months down the road.
I don't know, ... Day to day. We'll take it day by day. That's the way it's been for the last however many months. That's, I think, the only way you can do it.
I feel like I've had a strong relationship with Robert [Kraft] and his family since I was here in 1996 and I think it's gotten stronger every year that I've been here with the Patriots. The more things we do together, talk about together, work together on, the closer we become and the more we rely on each other. I feel like our relationship is very close and continues to grow closer every year as we grow older together.
It's the business that you guys are in too. We try to get as much information as we can and make the best decisions that we can for the football team.
Some guys, football comes really easy to them; they can see what all 22 players are doing, can see what all 11 guys are doing on their side of the ball, how it all fits together. It's easy for them.
It's really important to him. He understands what you want to do. If it's not right, then it's important for him to get it right and to figure out exactly where he should be on the play or how he should play it.
He kind of knows the right thing to do without being told. He just knows how to get open and he has a good understanding of passing game concepts. He knows where the other receivers are. He understands where he needs to be, and when there are traffic problems, he almost always does the right thing to clear that traffic up.
It's a combination of things. Sometimes we've missed blocks. Sometimes we've missed an assignment and didn't block a guy that we should have blocked.
