bounce executing trouble
We had trouble executing the whole series. We have to bounce back.
cash chances create golden tough
We had golden opportunities. We just didn't cash in. Those are always tough when you create as many chances as we did and don't execute.
depth shakes wait
We have a lot of depth in our pitching, a lot of interesting possibilities. I can't wait to see how it all shakes out.
almost discovered good hard hitter pitch pitchers plate trust walk
We've discovered the hard way there's no way to pitch to him. He's such a disciplined hitter at the plate and has such good plate coverage, it's almost like you can't even trust your pitchers to pitch around him. You've just got to intentionally walk him.
build shut win
We wanted to build on that win. We didn't want to get shut out 1-0 after that big win Saturday.
figuring guy hard hit looked mixed pitches sure time
We had a hard time figuring Hernandez out. He sure looked like the same guy as in '98. He mixed his pitches up and hit spots.
couple guys
We have a couple of guys down now,
ball great opportunity starter
We had a great opportunity there, and (Cardinals starter Mark) Mulder, he got out of it, ... We're just not cashing in at this point. The double-play ball killed us.
credit giving guy threw throw
We've got to come out of this and we will. Their guy did throw well. I know we're giving credit a lot lately, but he threw well.
credit easy giving seems
We've got to come out of this. It seems like we're giving (opposing pitchers) credit a lot lately. We can't get down. There is no easy answer.
effort gave great job needed nice
What a nice job he did, ... He gave us a great effort there. It was an outstanding ballgame. We needed it, because we didn't do a lot of scoring, either.
boys heart impressive knew looking needed picked rest terrific
What was impressive is Jake knew what we were looking for, he knew the boys needed a rest down there in the bullpen, he just went out there and pitched his heart out, that's just a terrific effort, he really picked us up there.
anybody desperate expected pick somebody time
When you pick up somebody like this in a desperate time and have him come through the way he has, I don't think anybody could've expected it.
attacking focus instead looks loses men success tends
When you haven't had a lot of success up here, it comes down to confidence. He didn't have the same look he did this spring. It just looks like he loses his focus out there, especially with men on base. When things aren't going well, it looks like he tends to back off, instead of attacking the hitters.
