almost anywhere ask bit field innings low player position ready spring
We had almost every position player play anywhere from the low 60s to 100 innings in the field (in spring training). We're not probably going to ask him to do that much, but it's going to need to be a little bit more than him just getting 25 at-bats and being ready to go.
asked pride skills takes
He is a ballplayer. He takes a lot of pride in what he is asked to do. He is comfortable with who he is and the skills he has.
angry asked coming complain maybe might mound realized ring seemed series surprised turned warming watch
What surprised me was when he went out to the mound with a watch on and was, like, surprised when we asked him to take it off. I thought maybe he got a World Series ring and a World Series watch, so that's why he seemed to be angry about that. There was a little glare coming off of it. We don't complain about much here, but at times when he turned his wrist, you could see a glare warming up. Obviously, it wasn't very expensive, the way he flung it into the dugout. Then I realized it might not have been a World Series watch.
added asked belt capable carrying consumed fact guys ignore missing
You can't ignore the fact that you are missing your No. 3 hitter. We just asked the guys to tighten their belt a little, but just carrying their load, not try to do anything more than they are capable of doing. It's an added pressure, but you can't be consumed with it.
answer ask barry bonds care good himself questions sure talk
Are we going to talk about Barry Bonds just because he is here? He's very special. It's good that we have him back involved. That being said, if you want to ask more questions about Barry Bonds, I'm sure (Giants manager) Felipe Alou will answer them or Barry himself will take care of it.
approach asked
His approach is much better. He's working at what we asked him to do, and he's having some success, which is all you can ask for.
asked career point time welcomed
He's welcomed the opportunity. There comes a point and time in your career where you do what you are asked to do.
ask delivery grind repeat
If he's tired, we'll ask him, ... But if he's not, this is something he's just got to grind through and get better at. He's got to find a way to repeat his delivery with more consistency.
ability dealt recreate since slow
It is something we have dealt with since Day 1. You can't recreate that environment. It's just the ability to go out there and slow the inning down as much as you can.
ceiling
I think we'd like to see his ceiling or find his niche,
groups humility leads passion talked unique work
I think we've talked about it all -- his humility, his work ethic. He has a unique passion for the game. He leads by example. In the groups that he's been in, that's been talked about.
found
I think we've found out about his toughness,
ahead break dissect distance elevate everybody far good months numbers opportunity pack scheme spell themselves three time
I think by far and away he was way ahead of the pack at the time he went down. But the numbers he has now, they still spell out pretty good in the big scheme of things if you want to dissect numbers and break them down. Everybody else had an opportunity of three months to really put some distance between themselves and him and elevate themselves, but it didn't happen.
group todd win
I think it was as important for the group to win without Todd in the lineup as it was for Todd to see the group win without him,
