Coach did put a challenge out there for me to be more active on defense, to be more aware. I know I'm a good defender. At times, I just take a rest. So he put a challenge on me not to take a rest.
Last year we had a team that everybody had a role. If it wasn't me and Shaq scoring, everybody was spotting up, hitting the jumper. The main thing is it just takes time to learn each other, learn the system.
I had an OK day at the office.
Everyone thought it was my knee. I've been getting phone calls. Even my wife thought it was my knee. I didn't even grab my knee.
Guys know what they need to do, but at the same time, I think they're still trying to understand what coach Riley wants them to do.
I take the blame for it. I did a bad job on him.
My foot stopped and my leg kept going.
It was a tough loss, but at the same time we're professionals and we have to take care of business.
Our continuity is still good. Of course, there was a little rust and we had a lot of anxiousness. But guys played with a lot of energy.
Maybe I got hurt for a reason - to bring these guys here and we all celebrate together over on Biscayne Bay one day,
Of course you're surprised after the season we had, a heartbeat away from the finals. But you know, Pat Riley seemed to change. He seemed to change from the year before when we were excited about our young team, and it did us good ? so I'm sure this will do us good also.
There's no question you have to try to keep the ball in front of you as much as possible without getting fouls. The perimeter (defenders) have got to do a little better job on that now that we don't have the luxury of letting them go down to Alonzo.
There's times where I felt we've been there. After winning those four in a row you feel like you can run off some, then one or two things happen.
Another win Wednesday will make us feel great about the way we're playing.
