My younger kids are great. They did whatever they could to make those seniors better. Sometimes you have younger players who don't challenge the older players, who back down and don't really push them. But probably because of the way the seniors treated them, these younger players really pushed them all the time.
The players in this program are just amazing people. Now, we've got to continue to go out and play and believe in one another.
We have been looking forward to this day. The talent in the AFL has improved dramatically from my first years in the league where now teams are deep enough that they can't protect everyone. On top of that, the free-agent market is loaded with players that have solid arena experience. We just held our first open tryout last month and hosted over 200 quality players. This is going to be fun, starting from scratch and building a competitive team.
We are just having the mix our football players with our basketball players. We are just having to some growing pains right now.
The other players did not testify before this committee, ... We are asking for these results in the context of Palmeiro's appearance before the Government Reform Committee.
Basically, when you play the top teams, you need nine players ready to go. We knew that going in, but it was unfortunate that the fouls dictated the game.
I'd bet more than 50 percent of our players have a relative who played football here.
We have a lot of unselfish people on this team. Our goal is to spread it out. A lot of people don't understand that. When you have eight, nine players that can do that like we can, it's hard to defend us for 32 minutes.
I know the benefits of being up in the press box. You see an awful lot more and it's not as chaotic. But the emotion of the game, it's real and you get to look eyeball to eyeball with your players and you get to share the emotion of the game. You get to communicate when there's adversity and you help them through it. I had a blast today.
It makes you wonder if they change their players just to keep it confusing.
You turn on the film and the No. 1 player you're going to game-plan around is Brian Calhoun. He's the No. 1 player that we game-plan around (offensively). So, conversely, as a defensive coach, you're going to spend a lot of energy in trying to contain, throttle, and frustrate Calhoun, while forcing other players to beat you. If I'm coaching against us, the first thing I'm going to do is figure out a way to contain Brian because he can change a game, and change it fast.
(Lamar) drilled us at our house last year and we challenged our players to put out a great effort tonight. We didn't look pretty but we made the play we had to make at the end to win the game.
It's good to see the players union moving in the right direction. However, it remains to be seen whether this proposal is strong enough for members of Congress.
