athletes close definitely improved last mark since three
As a whole we have definitely improved since last season. And we have two or three other athletes who are really close to that mark and will do it.
athletes buried meet records school seconds shows talented
They are seconds off school records and are buried in the pack. That shows how talented the athletes at this meet were.
anxious carolina competition crew forward georgia highly looking south taking tough
I'm taking a pretty big crew of ladies; we've got some pretty tough competition down there in Georgia, Florida, Minnesota, South Carolina and Georgia Tech. It will be highly competitive for our kids, so I'm anxious and looking forward to it.
coming finish good ground help knew last loaded points remember sad score seventh shaky talent team total
I can't remember when 40 points was the last place total at indoors. I knew we were on shaky ground coming in, but if you told me we would score 40 points - I'd thought that would be good for seventh place. I'm sad to finish last, but we're loaded with young talent that will help this team in the future.
athletes awakening capable compete david defend four goal great high hope improve john major national onto people points pole score scoring side solid trying vault year
Our goal on the men's side is to be where we were a year ago, if not better, and for Rickey and John to improve their qualifying marks, and for others, like David Rae , to make it onto the national lists. Rickey is going in trying to defend his title. If he is able to do that, it will get us rolling. We also hope to score well in the pole vault because we have four solid athletes in it. David Rae is capable of scoring us some major points in the 3,000. We are a young team, but we have a lot of people capable of doing great things. Hopefully, Big Tens will be an awakening for them to compete at a high level.
defend gonna good plan stressed
She has a good shot. She's gonna be stressed a little bit, but the plan is for her to go out and defend her title.
athlete athletics beating defend good seed shows title
Obviously, when you can defend your title it shows how good of an athlete you are. And to do it by beating the No. 1 seed is impressive.
across athletes good last pushes spears team won
Our last place team could have probably won many conferences across the nation. That's the good thing about it (Big Ten). It spears the athletes on and pushes them to better performances and that is why we are here.
composure finished gets kept quick start
I told Rickey that if he gets out quick then he'll (Porter) start pressing. Rickey, however, kept his composure and finished strong.
qualified team
I still want to get (sophomore) Leah Kincaid regionally qualified in the long jump, and I would like to get the (400-meter relay) team regionally qualified.
events impress people solid three
Leah was solid in all three of her events. She will impress a lot of people this year.
finished jump last looking move team
I would really like to move up in the standings from where we finished last year. I'm looking for the women's team to make a big jump up.
challenge finish herself shot slowly ten top
(James) is slowly distinguishing herself in the shot put. I think she could challenge for a top finish at the Big Ten Championships.
ability athletes bach beating certain contribute distance finals focus freshmen jumping knock lauren people position running steven ten thompson younger
I look for our freshmen to contribute a lot in the relays. We also need them to get into the finals in their respective events, to knock other people out of position to score. Some of the younger athletes, like Lauren Scott , Steven Bach and Terrell Thompson , have the ability to do that. At the Big Ten meet, I tell all of our athletes to focus on beating bodies, not on jumping a certain distance or running a certain time. If you focus on beating people, those things will come.
