beat defense forcing guys trying understood
He's not forcing shots, he's recognizing what's out there. His defense was really good. They were trying to make the other guys beat them, and he understood that.
beat full glad good ready rest rotation schedule tough
They've had a tough schedule recently, but they beat a very good team. They're very good, and they'll be ready to go. I was glad I was able to get in a full rotation (against Providence) and rest some of our guys, so that everyone is fresh. It's going to be a very tough game.
ball beat close concern games lost shoot teams
They lost so many close games, that they have to be a concern for people. And also teams that can really shoot the ball and get it going, those teams are always a concern because there are always some games where they can beat anybody.
beat coming free ground improve knew ways
I thought we just battled and ground out a victory. We beat them on the boards, which is a thing we knew we had to do coming into the game, and we beat them badly. We also had to get better at making free throws, and we need to improve defensively. We still have a long ways to go.
aaron ahead highly players
If you remember, Aaron wasn't highly recruited. Look at him now. He's better than a lot of the players recruited ahead of him.
compared couple dribble football good hand heard past people playing ready team
It's a hand-off play. We dribble it over and hand it off. ... People say we're a football team playing basketball. We've heard it for the past couple of years now. They all say, 'Now we have to get ready to play the Steelers.' We think it's good to be compared to a team that's had so much success.
cincinnati force four push seniors team typical
They have four seniors that play a lot of minutes. They force turnovers, they push you in transition, they use some traps. It's a typical Cincinnati team that's had some injuries.
exactly execution five freshmen guys perfect
It was perfect execution by two freshmen and a sophomore. Five guys did exactly what we wanted to do.
conference game wild win won
It was a wild place. It was really rocking. We had to win that game or we wouldn't have won the conference championship.
below dangerous good guards job keeping shut
You're not going to shut him down. He's going to get shots. He's going to take shots. He's got range. We've done a good job on a lot of guards this year, keeping them below their averages. You can't let him get going. He's been very dangerous this year.
adjustment handle second
At times we didn't handle (the 1-3-1 defense) very well. In the second half, the adjustment was evident.
ages bad dame few found game glad guys hand hit oftentimes plays shots step
Their shots were deep, and oftentimes we had a hand in their face. Our guys made plays and there were very few mistakes. Some of the shots Notre Dame hit were from 35-40 feet. If you step out on those, it's bad defense. It was a game for the ages and I'm just glad we battled and found a way to win.
continuous dramatic overnight process signed since
It hasn't been like an overnight thing or even an over-the-summer thing. It's been a continuous process really since we signed him. His improvement's been constant, yet dramatic when you look at it.
prettiest tough
It wasn't our prettiest game. It was tough and we battled through.
