I like Matt. I like racing with him. I didn't like racing him today.
I'm pleased. I guess this is what I was expecting of us at this point in the season where we were a better team. We had better race cars. Not necessarily the cars being better, but the setups relating to how I like to drive, the comfort and feel. I think it's given me more confidence. It's building confidence in the team.
I'm sad to see Robbie leave. For him, it was time for a change and I'm happy he's found the right fit.
I had no idea what was going to happen. I was just so angry that I just wanted to get out of the car as fast as I could.
I never got close enough to his bumper to find out how good he was. . . . He knows how to get around this place good. He was smooth and fast and made some great moves.
He's tough here, there's no doubt about it. When I look at guys that run good here, I put him as one of the top guys.
I don't know how you can just pick one guy, there's strong cars out here. I felt like (Sadler) was really strong in that first race. I know that Tony and Junior and Jimmie and those guys who weren't in our race are going to be strong.
I don't know how many hundredths of a second we are missing it by, but I'm just really happy now.
By having those no-bump zones or whatever we want to call them, I think we saw a heck of a lot less crashes, big crashes, than what we could have seen. I think the racing was still good out there, but it was so much calmer.
Honestly, I've been going up in that trailer for 10 years now . . . and I feel like very little of it ever really makes an impact. I sat there many times with Dale, and I heard him make his points, and I knew he had a special relationship with Bill (France) Jr., and NASCAR and I felt like, sometimes he definitely made a difference, sometimes he got credit for it when I think they were already going to do something and half the time they didn't do anything.
Honestly, if we perform this weekend like we have the last few, we don't belong in the Chase anyway. You know, all we're going to do is go out there and finish 10th in the points.
He's known for pushing the limits, and you want a crew who (does that). But there is a limit, and you've got to know where that limit is.
I'm curious to see, once they lock in the top 10, how aggressive they're going to be. To win a championship, you really have to go for it. You can't be out there racing for points every week.
I'm real happy with the comeback. We got way off and a lot of it is my fault. You know, I asked the guys to make some adjustments on the car and it was totally going the wrong direction.
