Is he the best player in the league? No, he's not. But he's the most important player on any team in the league. When Allan Ray is hurt, Villanova wins. If one or two guys from Connecticut have bad games, they still win. If Gerry doesn't play for us, we can't be in the game.
If they're in, we should be in - and they're definitely going to be in.
Without Gerry McNamara, we wouldn't have won 10 games this year.
This team showed more heart and guts than any team I've ever coached. And Gerry had as good a four days as anyone I've ever seen.
Those two helped us to get off to such a great start, ... They laid the foundation for the success we've had.
This was a heart-and-soul type of game. I've questioned the toughness of our players a couple times. When you lose four in a row and you do what we had to do to win, that's a tremendous tribute to the toughness of these kids.
This was a heck of a comeback from that kind of deficit against a team that controls the game. You just can't give anybody that kind of lead and expect to come back, but we just keep plugging away and as long as we get Gerry some looks he's going to make his share.
You know, they're a gambling pressure team. Eric just got a little careless a couple times.
who knew we'd get another chance so soon?
We just didn't do a good job on the boards in the first half. We did a better job in the second half.
We could have lost all four games, all four.
We've learned some things about our team this week.
We've got some really good teams. It's going to take a major upset for somebody to beat Connecticut. And three or four of our other teams are good enough to make a Final Four, maybe five.
We all know that it's more open now than it's ever been.
