craig degree gotten handled himself huge respect
Craig Wilson, offensively, he was terrific. He has gotten himself one huge backer. I respect him to the -Nth degree for the way he's conducted himself and the way he handled himself in this situation.
degree handled huge realize respect sitting
He doesn't realize what a huge backer he has sitting here. I respect him to the nth degree for the way he's handled himself.
bench contend factor fan great handled knows player situation team
He has handled the situation very professionally and he's made a big fan out of me because of that. It's great to have a player like him on the bench that you can put into the lineup and the other team knows he's a significant factor to contend with.
black dealing far handling mark situation
I think that what we do, as far as the handling of this situation and dealing with it, will go a long way in determining that factor, ... I'd like to think this is something you can deal with and keep a black mark from the (Dodgers) name.
busy guy hands mind start stretching
He's a guy we'd like to get our hands back on so we can start getting him busy with some of the things we have in mind -- namely, stretching him out.
ball bring bullpen determine game gets handle hit losing mistake pitcher pitching record side watch
That's his game to determine at that point. You take him out of the game like that there, you bring in the bullpen and a mistake is made, a ball gets hit in the gap, and he's the pitcher of record in the losing decision, and he got to watch it on the other side of the dugout. I don't handle pitching that way.
anybody chance charge close everybody games handle lock matter putting serious slam teams throw thus type winning
Back in May, when the Padres went something like 22-6, they had a chance to slam the door, throw the lock around the handle and close it off for everybody else. And it didn't happen. So it's not a matter of anybody putting on any type of serious charge thus far, it's a matter of teams just winning some games here and there.
hands love routine sooner start stretched
I'd love to be able to get my hands on Oliver, the sooner the better. I'd like to get him a routine and stretched out for the start of the season.
character complement equation fit goes hand issue pieces
There's a lot of things that go into the equation in formulating a team, the way the pieces fit and complement each other. Character has always been an important issue with me. It goes hand in hand with chemistry.
accomplish game light takes
Sometimes it takes one at-bat in one game for the light to go on. You can accomplish a lot by doing what we were doing with Duffy today.
clubhouse full guys
Is Oliver Perez important to us? And Kip Wells? Sure, they are. But we've got a whole clubhouse full of guys that are important to us.
economic property
You should not be able to take someone's property for economic development,
duke good
Zach Duke did a good job. He had to battle, obviously.
large last mean next obviously sample six size team won year
One-and-7 obviously isn't the way you want to start. But the (Dodgers) team I managed last year started 12-2 and we won 71 games. So it's not a large enough sample size of games. It doesn't mean this is the kind of team we're going to be for the next six months.
