drove hitters pitchers season shows stands stayed
It shows me he doesn't budge on lefties. He stands in there. Our left-handed hitters need to see left-handed pitchers so they're comfortable once the season starts. He stayed right in there. I think it was an 11-pitch at-bat. The 11th pitch, he drove it. That's what I want to see.
judgments third until week
I probably won't make any judgments until the third week in March.
bricks carry eyes father gave remember
I was the grunt. I used to carry the bricks and cement. I remember when my father gave me my first $100 bill. My eyes were huge.
choice early family happy hard hope issues player retire takes uniform
You don't want to see any player ever retire too early or have family issues that takes him away from the game. It's hard to retire. I hope if that's the choice that he made that he's happy with his decision. It's hard to take your uniform off.

fortunate guys obviously progress robert
Pokey obviously has the experience. But you look at Hanley and Robert -- two up-and-coming shortstops that can play defensively right now. We'll see how they progress offensively now and during the season. We're pretty fortunate to have two guys like that.
industrial run systems
Industrial engineering is about making systems run better. It's problem-solving, and that's what you have to do every day on the field,
several
I have to make several duplicates of every scorecard.
fearful great greatest guy importance joe knowing learned patience saying trusting work
The great thing about Joe was that he let me say anything I wanted and I was never fearful of saying anything; that's the greatest guy you can work for. Joe's a very trusting guy. One of the big things I learned about him was his patience and the importance of knowing people.
behold gives good guy learn low mound next runs three
If there's one guy that should take a pitch, it should be (Mitre). But he's got a pretty good swing. Low and behold he (goes back out to the mound and) gives up three runs the next inning. Something we can learn from.
miserable noticed quickly respond
I know it's not as quickly as he would like. I noticed the other day he was a little miserable that it didn't respond the way he would have liked.
