brian gets ok pull supportive throw whoever wins
Brian and I are friends, and we throw a lot together, ... Whoever wins the spot, we'll be supportive of each other. If he gets it, I would be OK with that. We pull for each other.
bullpen chance good
Look at his arm, his age. He's got a chance to be a very good starter. I don't think we're even considering the bullpen right now. He's got too much going for him the other way.
head holding
Not one bit. Not the way we played, ... You play 162 games. They all hurt, but we'll go out of here holding our head high. I'll tell you that.
facing good pitches tough
He always pitches very good when he's facing these guys, which is tough to do.
few guys hope side talked today
I talked to him today about a few things and I hope he got the message. You see guys on the other side like (Derek) Jeter and (Gary) Sheffield get down the line.
hung trouble
He was in trouble but he hung in there.
argument attention good paying seen
But if you've been paying attention and seen what he has done, he has got a pretty good argument on his side.
might pitch point
There might come a point where he has to pitch with it, I don't know.
heart looking
I don't even know if we're looking for that. I just know my guys. They've got a lot of heart. They just get after it.
division hold rarely runs score shut slug three tough
There's no secret. When you're in the division with these guys, you've got to slug it out. When you go head-to-head with them, very rarely is there going to be low-scoring games. ... It's tough to shut them down, to hold them to three runs or less. You've got to score with them.
beckett character clutch home winners winning
That was a character builder. We've got winners on this team. That wasn't easy. Beckett was rolling. We got some big clutch home runs. That was outstanding. That's one where you come all the way back -- when you end up winning those games, it does a lot for you.
maybe
He's getting there. He's not full-speed. We'll see how it goes. Maybe this weekend. We'll see if he's ready.
conscious effort field gifted last primarily pull pulling using year
He's using the whole field. Last year he was primarily pull -- when he did things he was pulling the ball. He made a conscious effort to go back to using the whole field like he did when he first got here. He's a natural. He's a gifted athlete.
number three
He's had our number all year. Three times we haven't been able to do anything with him.
