couple drops good great key
I like the way we started. It was a great first drive. A couple of key drops stymied some opportunities that we had. We are doing some good things, but we have a long way to go.
associated drives great guys waiting
That was one of the great drives I've been associated with, ... We had a lot of young guys out there and one of the all-time quarterbacks waiting for his chance. That was a great accomplishment, especially on the road.
bowl came emotion honor respect super
I respect where I came from. There's some sensitivity and there's some emotion to see Oakland play in the Super Bowl ... it would be an honor to play them.
football good guy pass player special teams
He's made plays. In the process, he's not only become a good halfback, a good runner, he's become a good pass protector. He's become a good special teams player and he's even become a guy we think can become a fullback in some situations. So he's come a long way as a football player.
brought plays qualities size stood
I think J.R. Russell, on the stats sheet, stood out, ... He made some big plays down the field. Just his size and speed; those are two qualities that brought him here.
growing league pains playing ready work
That's the way this league is: If you are not ready to go, you are not getting out of here with anything but what you deserve. We were playing a young quarterback, and we have some growing pains that we have to work through.
block excuse explode finish injury miss run rushing somebody yards
I am not going to use his injury as an excuse for us having 50 yards rushing in a game. We've got to block better, we've got to finish better. And if we need to explode on somebody, run over somebody, make somebody miss to make yards, that's what we've got to do,
capable evaluation good
If that is an evaluation of what we are capable of doing, that's a good sign. But I live a very short-term life. We have a long way to go.
battle earned jeff ryan spring
But we like Ryan Nece. Jeff Gooch and Ryan have had a real competitive battle this spring and summer, so Ryan will be the starter. He's earned that in Jeff's absence.
happy proud
Certainly, in some ways, ... I'm very proud and happy for those guys.
agreement decisions difficult fans hoping obviously owners players reported similar sort sure teams terms waiting
Obviously what is being reported right now is an impasse. There are a lot of teams in similar straits that we are in, in terms of kind of waiting and hoping for the best. If no agreement is reached, I am sure there will be some very difficult decisions to be made. The players and the owners have to sort this thing out. It will take time. It is frustrating for, I think, fans and everyone.
couple draft hard help last players team wire worked
Not necessarily. We really worked hard on the draft the last couple years, being a part of it, so we know a lot of the players that are on the waiver wire from our research, ... And we know a lot about our players that didn't make this team also. Not necessarily, but familiarity can help you, you bet, when it's close.
beginning great guys start stepped
There were a lot of young guys that stepped up and made big plays. What a great beginning for those guys. Hopefully, it's the start of some thing big for them.
happens roll understand
That's what happens if you don't have success. You have to roll with it. I understand that.
