Martin Pierre Brodeuris a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender and the assistant general manager of the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League. In his 21-season tenure with the New Jersey Devils, he won three Stanley Cup championships and five Eastern Conference titles in 17 postseason campaigns. He was a young guy from Montreal, like me. I idolized him because he came in (to the NHL) so young and he showed he could do the job. He made me see the possibility of doing it myself.

I think it's going to get harder and hard to do. I was in the position to be able to do it. I don't think too many guys are going to be able to do that with the different way the system works now.

I think there was a big transition in Canada, having younger guys being part of Team Canada now. I think it's nice we had a chance to perform with each other. At least you don't come in and it's a brand-new atmosphere. Now Team Canada has been doing these pre-Olympic training camps in the summer also, where we got together. I think everybody's really anxious to see each other again.

That's a pretty great accomplishment, I'm pretty excited about it. Now I've got three more guys in front me. Definitely, it's a goal of mine to try to get as high as I possibly can. Being in New Jersey helps me a great deal.

The rules are there and there is a lot more flow to the game. If we are able to play this way and not take a lot of penalties, you'll see this more and more from our team. It's not just me. All the guys are excited that we are able to shut down good teams.

The number of penalties was one of the breaks of the game. Key guys were on the ice for a long time, and they were starting to run out of juice. We have to be more conscious of penalties on the second night of back-to-back games.

The distractions that people think we're gonna have, that's bogus for most of the guys on the team. This is such a great time for all of us. It doesn't concern me or any of my teammates.

It's definitely nice to see two of my teammates along with me in the starting lineup, ... It's something we're really excited about. ... When you see three guys on the same team at the All-Star game, it's pretty amazing.

It's important that everyone feels they have a role on this team. They told me in 2002 (in Salt Lake City) I would play at least one game and I was really excited. Just to have that chance ... and hopefully these guys will feel the same way, that they'll play one game or two.

If they had 30 Martin Brodeurs out there, that rule wouldn't be there; nobody would have voted for it, ... There are just too many teams that didn't have these goalies that were ready to make sure the guys that were affecting the games weren't able to do it anymore.

For us defensively, we take a lot of pride in it. This year it's a little different because of the circumstances of the CBA. There are no bonuses. The guys are definitely out for just pride and feeding off that performance to move on to the next game.

A break here and there made the difference. We wanted to match the way we play on the road with the way we have been playing at home.
