across exception improvement last numbers people year
We had some improvement last year but I don't think a lot of people noticed. You won't see it in my record, but all my numbers across the board, with the exception of strikeouts, improved.
jason johnson kenny last leader rogers time vocal
It's the first time we feel we can go to someone. We had Jason Johnson last year. He wasn't necessarily the vocal leader we needed, but Kenny Rogers is that.
change finesse hard hurt last left mindset pitcher pitches tried wants work year
It's more of an approach. We tweaked just a little bit. ... He wants me to have that mindset that that's the kind of pitcher that I am from the left side. He wants me to think that I can come in there hard and still be able to work away and change speeds. And I think last year I may have tried to finesse too many pitches in there, and it hurt me at times.
balls beach life pitches throwing
I think I had life on my pitches -- I wasn't throwing beach balls up there, ... I don't think I'm tired.
except home
I thought I pitched well today, except for the home runs.
driving finding home shock system three
Some of these guys, they're still driving home. They're not even home yet and they're finding out all this news. I've been part of this system for three years, and it's a shock to you. It's tough.
run support talk
Today, it's a new year. It's a new beginning, and we don't need to talk about run support anymore.
greater maybe wants
He wants our expectations to be greater than maybe they've been.
emotion emotions field
He comes off the field after another homer, and there's no emotion on his face,
believes leave leaves manager situation
He just told me that he believes in me enough to leave me out there in that situation to get out of it. When a manager believes in you in a situation like that, leaves you in, that's something to take to the bank. It did a lot for me. That was outstanding.
coming disbelief laugh losses season short year
This year, coming up so short of what we wanted to be, it's kind of a deflated feeling, ... You're in disbelief of how the season has come to this point. I know I am. If you had told me I'd have 15 losses at the end of the year before the season starts, I'd laugh at you.
defense great pitching
The defense is what makes our pitching work, and they did a great job.
believes leaves manager situation
When a manager comes out in a situation like that, leaves you in and believes in you, that's something to take to the bank. It did a lot for me.
afraid pitch says trust yell
Leyland's not afraid to yell at you from the dugout. It's situational things, not pitch selection. When he says something, I take it to the bank. I trust what he says.
