anybody detroit helped
He was better than anybody I had on my Detroit staff. He could have helped us.
expected slow starter time
He did OK, probably a little better than I expected for his first time out. He's a notoriously slow starter anyway, so I thought he was OK, pretty good.
advice bit decided push rest taken year
He could have taken the rest of the year just to rehab, which is probably a lot of the advice that he had received. He decided that he was going to push it a little bit and try to come back this year, just in case.
above drive effect four front gives guys hitting middle pitches produces sneak somebody though
He could have an effect on the guys above him, because if he can (hit 25 homers and drive in 90), then those other guys hitting in front of him would have to get pitches to hit, and they could have some more numbers, too. If he produces like we think he can, it gives you four guys in the middle of the lineup, and you can't sneak though it. Somebody is going to get you.
across bad eyebrow plain sweating wiped
He did not go to his mouth. He was sweating profusely on his face. He wiped his eyebrow across his nose, and (Dreckman) called it on his face. It was a bad call, plain and simple.
fastball guy life nice night primarily stayed unusually
He did a very nice job. He had a pretty nice fastball and was locating it pretty well, and they just stayed with it all night long. It was kind of an unusually pitched game. You don't see a guy use primarily fastballs. He had a little life on it.
balls breaking dominant seen strike
He didn't look as dominant as I've seen him in the past. He didn't use a lot of breaking balls or off-speed stuff, he just used his fastball. But we didn't strike it.
face mouth simply sweating
He didn't go to his mouth on the mound. He was simply sweating profusely on his face and was wiping it away.
deserves
He deserves that. Not only does he deserve it, that's the right thing for us to do in that situation. And that's what we've done.
air certainly hurt last
He certainly didn't hurt his chances. His last two outings, he showed an air of confidence.
ball breaking threw throw
He just wanted to go out and throw the ball over the plate. That's what he did. He didn't throw too many breaking balls. He just threw some fastballs. He got them where he wanted them.
bats took
He just took our bats and shoved them up our bat racks.
job likes
He just likes going out and pitching, doing his job and saying, 'Thank you very much,' and going home.
accustomed andy bounce good last locate seeing
He just didn't locate like we're accustomed to seeing him locate. But I think that will be forthcoming. It was good for Andy to bounce back after his last outing.
