fortunate works
He's puffed up pretty good. I think he'll be able to play on Friday. We're fortunate to have the off-day tomorrow. That works well.
fighting work
There's something to be said for getting there and not winning. It does have a sense that you're not finished, that there's work undone, that there's still something you're fighting for.
bringing debated gotten hard needed seventh throw work
He has not been used a lot recently. He needed to throw tonight, so he was going to have to go. I actually debated bringing him in in the seventh if we had gotten in trouble. He was going to have to work hard tonight.
along demeanor jim last throwing worked year
He started doing it last year -- it was something that Jim worked with him last year. His whole demeanor and he's working with a better tempo. He's done that. Along with that, he's throwing strikes, too.
cardinals club department duplicate last offense pitching potent stronger weaker work year
I thought the Cardinals were going to be hard-pressed to duplicate what they did last year and they did duplicate it. We are a different club and we are probably not offensively as potent as we were last year. ... We are probably a little stronger in the pitching department and probably a little weaker in the offense department. I don't know how that's going to work out.
clearly factor game trying work
I thought he was going to be able to pitch, but it clearly swelled up on him. I think it was probably a little factor in the game in the way he was trying to work with it.
fast roy sets throws works
Roy comes out, throws strikes, works at a fast pace. That sets the tempo.
luke trying work
(I was) trying to get something on the board. Luke Scott's a low-ball hitter, and (Willis) is a low-ball pitcher. I like the matchup. It didn't work so well.
pick scientific
Pick 'em out of a hat. We just need somebody. Nothing scientific in the formula.
stuck top
No, ... He snow-coned it. Stuck to the top of his glove.
balls complete guy pitches throws
The guy throws 95 pitches and pitches a complete ballgame, so we didn't put too many balls in play.
remembered series win
If you can get into the World Series and win the World Series in Houston, you can be remembered forever.
electric people wound
I just think it would be electric for the city. People are just so wound up.
coming games good job ours runs somehow time trait typical
It's just something that's been a trait of ours all year, but we managed to win. It's like some of our typical games and somehow we managed to get through it. We didn't eke one out this time and that's unfortunate because we had been doing a pretty good job of coming up with runs somehow.
