knows perfect spot
He knows how much we would like to have him back. I think this is the perfect spot for him.
guarantees high million payroll spend
A high payroll guarantees you wins. It doesn't guarantee you championships. If you let me spend $100 million or more every year, I guarantee you I'll play over .500.
fine great hear himself job naturally pitchers rocket roy winner wonderful
He's a second-time 20-game winner and you don't hear much about it. Roy himself is not a self-promoter. He's very laid-back. He's very comfortable being in the back room. You have great personalities like the Rocket (Roger Clemens) and (Andy) Pettitte, who have done some wonderful things, so I think (the attention) naturally gravitates in their direction. But Roy has done a fine job for us and he's going to go down as one of the great pitchers in this decade.
bruise calf feels guess hole inner knee size sort spread
He feels a little sore, but he's better ... He's going to be fine. I guess I could say the bruise is sort of diffused somewhat, so he doesn't have a big hole the size of a watermelon on his knee right now. But it's spread up the calf and inner thigh a little bit.
ballgame chance couple crossed drive hitters squeeze win
The thought of a squeeze crossed my mind, but you think he's one our better hitters and you want him to have a chance to win the ballgame and drive in a couple of runs.
drove four noticed three walked
I noticed they walked him four times on Sunday. But I also noticed that (Jim) Edmonds drove in three runs.
above drive effect four front gives guys hitting middle pitches produces sneak somebody though
He could have an effect on the guys above him, because if he can (hit 25 homers and drive in 90), then those other guys hitting in front of him would have to get pitches to hit, and they could have some more numbers, too. If he produces like we think he can, it gives you four guys in the middle of the lineup, and you can't sneak though it. Somebody is going to get you.
andy figure key
I think Andy is probably the key figure here in making all this happen.
chuck continued exactly manage mom
Chuck continued to manage because he said that's exactly what his mom wanted him to do. He said, 'She wanted me to get to the World Series, but she wanted me to see it through,' and he did.
anticipate ball beat bit burst call doubt exciting feet game hits incredible last realize rookie season seeing seven six thrown tired umpire win year
If he hits a ball hard, you can get him out. If he hits it soft, he'll beat it out every time. He has an incredible burst the last 15 feet or so. There have been six or seven times this season when an umpire will anticipate a little bit and call him out and then realize that he was safe. I got thrown out of a game or two because I got tired of seeing that. I don't know if he's going to win the rookie of the year or not, but there is no doubt he's an exciting player.
champions chicago deserve phenomenal white
I congratulate the Chicago White Sox, they had a phenomenal year, ... My hat's off to them. They deserve to be called the world champions this year.
absolute change difficult faith field losing people personnel requires turn
When you go into an organization that's been losing and you try to change the culture, it's a difficult job. It requires absolute faith from ownership. You've got to do some things on the field with your personnel that people don't like. But you've got to do it if you're going to turn it around.
gets moved taylor until
Until Taylor gets his stripes, he'll have to be moved around.
department offense pitching stronger weaker work
We are probably a little stronger in the pitching department and probably a little weaker in the offense department. I don't know how that's going to work out.
