Rafael Chaveswas the pitching coach of the Seattle Mariners in 2006 and 2007. Chaves was also the pitching coach for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, the New York Yankees' Triple A team. He was the Los Angeles Dodgers minor pitching coordinator from 2008-2013 and a special assistant for player personnel in 2014. There are decisions we have to make that we don't like a bit. This was the hardest thing I've had to do. I was his first pitching coach.

He did OK, but he wasn't throwing great. Still, with his successes in the past, you want to have a guy like him if you can. So we brought him in and he's throwing much better now. He's coming around.
