Randy Douglas Edsallis an American football coach who is currently the director of football research-special projects for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. He was the head coach at the University of Maryland from 2011 to 2015. We've made up a lot of ground. With each year we've recruited, we've gotten faster and faster. We've increased our team speed each year, but are we to the level of a Georgia Tech? I don't think so.

When I saw him at our summer camp, (Hurd) demonstrated a lot of athletic ability. And he showed good speed for a big man. We'll put some weight on him and where we plays ... I'm not sure yet ... but I know he's going to keep getting bigger and better.

We feel Jonathon has speed and athletic ability coming off the edge if we play him as a defensive end. In college football you don't need to have all those big people up front rushing all the time. Plus, with his athleticism, it helps us with some of the other things we do with our nickel package.

I think it's working out very well. It's good because all five of those guys or all 15 of those guys are in the same room and they're hearing the same thing. Not that there was a problem, but I think those five always have to work together.

Our kids are playing hard. I think they have some confidence. We know as the season progresses it's going to get tougher and tougher.

Our starters aren't going to get a free pass not to be on special teams. Even though we have more depth and some people who can do things, our best people are going to play on our special teams.

I think he'll do fine. His confidence and poise will be fine. Those are things we as coaches have to help him with this week. I'm confident in his abilities. Our coaches are confident in him and I know our players will be confident in him.
