If you want your taxes to go down, you have to vote for it.
This government has lost the moral authority to run this country because it has been named in a judicial inquiry on corruption.
Obviously we would expect the head of state to be a supporter of the state. I don't think there should be any doubt about that
If the Liberals are re-elected, this is what Canadians can look forward to, a government pre-occupied with ongoing scandals, corruption and police investigations.
Obviously I've tried my best within a small cabinet to try to represent all these different balances while at the same time obviously taking into account the skills and experience of individuals.
Even the United States, an allied government, is currently making incursions into our territorial waters without even notifying us, let alone seeking permission.
I'm not sure anything has changed .... Mr. Layton is not happy with the proposals he's had. He's not been happy with them for a while. And I'm not sure what his next move is, but it seems to me that he's still looking for leverage to get more out of the government rather than let the Canadian people have their say,
All indications I've had to this point is that Mr. Layton still will not support a motion to bring down the government,
This is causing considerable dislocation, ... There are a lot of people on fixed incomes. There are a lot of businesses on thin margins that are going to be affected by this.
That's why after an election we'll ask the MPs elected by the people their opinion on controversial questions that were issues in this campaign.
That is what has been blurred, ... Frankly, if the Government of Canada would sue the Liberal party, it would provide a wake-up call forever that that is not the same thing.
The nature of our constitution is that everyone is supposed to be able to do their own thing in their own area of jurisdiction.
I don't plan to make major structural changes now, and I don't think that will be feasible this spring.
