Americans respect a prime minister who takes a strong position on issues of interest to Canada, but they're not going to respect a guy who insults them gratuitously.
This party will not take its position based o-n public opinion polls. We will not take a stand based o-n focus groups. We will not take a stand based o-n phone-in shows or householder surveys or any other vagaries of pubic opinion.
I like the position we're in. I think we're ready for an election. I think we've got the members, the money and candidates and the support we need to have an election at any time.
It is usual for that position to be held by someone who is close to the government.
I think what I've tried to lay out to the Canadian people is that we would take a middle-road approach. I don't think we're going to be able to have a lot of other stuff.
I think things are looking up, but you don't know until people actually go into the voting booth.

We can win seats in every region, and at this point I think we are the only party that can realistically win seats in every province.
We can win because it is time for a change, time to move forward, time to get beyond the scandals and investigations and corruption.

Our team is talented and diversified and reflects Canada and we will work hard for all Canadians. The Cabinet that I have put together is smaller, but it will be more focused and more effective.
Why, when this prime minister claims that aboriginal issues are his top priority, does the Liberal premier of Ontario say he's 'missing in action' in this crisis?
Why, when the auditor-general condemned this practice in the sponsorship scandal, does this government still award contracts with no proper audit paper trail?
