enjoys ethic fun practice work
His work ethic is tremendous, ... He comes to practice every day to compete. He enjoys it. He has fun at what he's doing. And as a coach, you really like to see that in a player.
behind coming focus half hard season second work
Now we'll just have to put the first half of the season behind us. We'll work hard and focus on coming back in the second half of the season and play a lot better.
attention continued defense details emphasis finishes grown guys impressive kicking mentally pay physically plays saw spring standpoint team technique tough understand work younger
The most impressive thing about our team right now is that we understand our schemes. We've been in it two years now, and the younger guys have grown up in our systems, and they understand what we're doing from a technique standpoint on offense, defense and in the kicking game. One big emphasis of the spring was that we really wanted to pay attention to details and do the little things right. We continued to work on being physically and mentally tough and on being a team that finishes plays and plays physical football. I think you saw that out there today.
anybody anyway background checks church corner fine hard hire local passes plan somebody stand street talk time town trusting whoever work
We'd go to the local church in that recruit's town or just stand on the street corner and talk to whoever passes by. Background checks may be fine for some, but I don't plan to hire somebody when we can go out and do the same work ourselves. I'd have a hard time anyway trusting anybody other than my coaches.
ball move offense pass work
Our offense didn't move the ball very well. We have to work on pass protection, and we need to get into a rhythm.
guns improvement
I thought we got better every day defensively. And we made improvement offensively. We had some big guns out most of the spring.
forward move reason
I think everything was done properly. I see no reason why we can't move forward from here.
depth objective primary running wide
Our primary objective was to get some wide receivers in here and get some depth at running back, and we did that.
college decisions economical gives good officials pressure tool
I think for college football, it is probably as good as you could come up with, ... It still gives the officials another tool to make good decisions with and it doesn't put a lot of pressure on our coaches. And it's probably the most economical way as well.
believe catch offense people run
We are going to run it. We are going to get people in here who can run it. We are going to get protection. We are going to get receivers in here who can catch the football. We are going to run that offense. It is the offense I believe in, and it is an offense that I know works.
develop games good mental mentally practices tough win
We've got to develop some mental toughness. It's why we don't have back-to-back good practices and why we can't win two games in a row. Right now, we're just not mentally tough enough. I'm disappointed because after a good day, we'll have a lackadaisical practice.
field guys hurricane katrina step thinking white
When we step between those white lines, the guys out there on the field are not going to be thinking about Hurricane Katrina or anything else.
asset great last player
We thought (Johnson) was an outstanding player in last year's class. He will be a great asset to us in the secondary.
indicate record satisfying
We've come a long way, ... Our record doesn't indicate it, and it's probably not satisfying to a lot of people, but it's going to take a while.
