Like last year, we were pretty good at stopping the run, but it was just one or two big plays here and there,
I thought we played very well defensively in the first half. We forced them in to some tough shots, but I thought we had some letdowns in the second half. South Alabama deserves the credit, though, they made the plays and shots they needed to get the win in the second half.
I tell all the young guys, when it's all done, it's about performance. When you get the chance, you have to make some plays . . . that's just the way it is.
John's been preparing himself for this role for the last three years. This is his time to shine. He's really impressed us with his work ethic. He's got to make the plays that we know he can.
My younger brother, David, plays hockey for Plum and my mom takes him from game-to-game when me and my dad are gone.
That's their type of game. We're able to create some turnovers, get some loose balls and make some plays in transition and that's where we're at our best.
That's the way he plays. He plays on the edge. Sometimes he steps across that line. Unfortunately for us he did.
We led most of the game. We just didn't make enough plays to win.
We got to play a lot of people, including our 20 freshmen, and they held their own. They usually run the other team's plays in practice, so they are still picking up what we run.
We want to stay away from penalties and turnovers and not give up big plays on defense. It's going to come down to execution and effort.
I enjoy that challenge. If they're looking at me, that means they're not looking at everybody else on the field. So other guys can make plays. I think that plays into our hands.
He's got some big plays in him every time he touches the ball, ... If we give him a little bit of room, he can burst through the hole and make a lot of people miss him and take it to the house.
He hits a shot or two and gets confidence. He misses a couple, then he plays tentatively.
He fits perfectly as far as the type of kid we want to sign, and being a local kid that we got to see for several years. Over time you see a kid play mistake-free baseball, make all the plays and do the little things well and he grows on you and grows on you. He's gonna be fine. He'll step right in and play for us.
