He, who controls his senses and 'sacrifices' himself in the 'fire of knowledge' does not have the slightest of trepidation and fear.
crooked leaving narrow path straight takes
He takes the crooked path of the unrighteous way; leaving the straight and narrow path, he weaves his way backwards.

If only he had known the truth, all that grief could have been avoided. So too, until you know that all are altars where the name God is installed and all are moved and motivated by the Grace of the self-same God, you are afflicted by hate and pride; once you know it and experience it, you are full of Love and reverence to all.
bring created directions four gods open shall
Four directions has the heaven, and also four the earth, (from these) the gods created the embryo. May they open her, that she shall bring forth!
catering control four help incessant laid liberation man permanent positive process scriptures steps succeed yearning
Four steps are laid down in the scriptures to help man succeed in this effort; Discrimination between the Permanent and the Impermanent; withdrawal from the process of catering to the senses; Positive control of the feelings, thoughts, and pursuits; and incessant yearning for Liberation from all bonds.
distance fathers firmly follow near remain thy
From near thy vicinity, from near thy distance (do I call), remain here, do not follow; do not follow the Fathers of yore! Firmly do I fasten thy life's breath.
abandon carry sacrifice shall surely true
I am a sacrifice to my True Guru. He shall not abandon me; He shall surely carry me across.
approach body difficult found god good great human lord obtained pain says shown supreme unto whom
Those, unto whom You give Your consolation, God - pain does not even approach them. Says Nanak, I have found that Guru, who has shown me the Perfect, Supreme Lord God. This human body is so difficult to obtain; it is only obtained by great good fortune.
hawks ride shall
Those that ride on chariots, and those that have no chariots, those that are mounted, and those that are not mounted, all those, after they have been slain, vultures and strong-winged hawks shall devour!
human jewel lord precious wasted
You have wasted the precious jewel of this human life; you do not know the Way of the Lord of the Universe.
beings carries seven time wheels
With seven wheels does this Time ride, seven naves has he, immortality is his axle. He carries hither all these beings (worlds). Time, the first god, now hastens onward.
appearance external inherent multiple powers principle
The Principle of Appearance that deludes as multiple manifestation is Maya. It is not external to God; it is inherent in God, just as all Powers are inherent in Him.
