I think it's pretty obvious by the one offer they gave me and their reluctance to move beyond that point. Maybe I'd have the opportunity to stay there and win my job back once again. But since I kind of know where everybody stands in the organization and the people who are making the decisions, I don't think so.
The Madden Curse has really taken on a life of its own. People just love talking about it, and it is what it is, but I look at it as a challenge
When we had gone 0-2 and a lot of people doubted our confidence, and to come out and have win like this where everybody performed so well is just what we needed.
Now we're getting recognized and (some of our) games are in prime time. People see him and he's on the cover of video games. So people start to notice.
Obviously if you watch the same highlights as I did, he's a pretty incredible athlete. He makes a lot of big plays. I think a lot of people think they can turn him into a pretty good, consistent passing quarterback as well as running.
You still see the city is very alive and you've got a lot of great citizens of New Orleans committed to rebuilding this city that are just so excited about Saints football. In times of tragedy, in times like this, people look to whatever they can to try to lift their spirits and I think for a lot of people that is Saints football. ... What a great opportunity it was for me to be here as quarterback, but not only that, but as a person in this community.
This is great. This gives the fans the opportunity to see the makings of this team. And I feel we have an opportunity to help people who lost their homes or were forced from their homes because of Katrina. They need to be uplifted, and we have the opportunity to do that.
I think that being in New York and having that rookie year, he's been through a lot in a short time, and he's learned ways to handle it.
I think it's still at the point of learning how to finish games. I feel like last year we did a good job of it. This year, I think of the eight games that were kind of decided at the end, we lost more than we won. Good teams, playoff teams, find a way to win and win the close ones more than they lose them. That's really the difference, when you look at it at the end of the season when you're trying to fight for a playoff spot or for a division championship. Unfortunately, we were on the losing end of those. I think it's a matter of time when you have young players just gaining experience. You learn how to win.
I said, 'Thanks LT, for turning that swing pass into a 30-yard touchdown pass,'
We had four shots at it. I've got to come through.
I still feel like I'm getting the reps that I need to prepare myself for the season, ... Really the big thing is just starting the game and being in there for that first drive to see what (defenses) are doing and reacting to it.
Maybe I'm spoiled a little. I see it all the time, but he just never ceases to amaze me.
We're trying to be that franchise that year-in and year-out is competing for a championship.
