That's all right. He made some nice grabs for me. Can't complain. What is it, maybe his second drop of the season? I'll let it slide. Just this time.
It's just one of those things that hasn't happened yet. I'm confident we'll get him in the passing game as we go down the road. We'll also get him the ball in the running game. Whether it's running or passing, we'll get him his touches.
So to be able to come out and go, 'Well, I guess I know when they call the first team, it's me,' that feels good.
It's just one of those things that hasn't happened yet. But I'm confident he's going to be very much involved in the passing game as we go down the road. We need to get LT his 30-plus touches a game, whether it's running the ball or catching the ball.
Doug has been great to us, ... He'll come up on the sideline, even if we don't ask him a question, and say, 'Did you see what I did? The reason I did that was because I saw this or that, or they were blitzing a linebacker.' He lays it out for you where you wouldn't know otherwise. It's great, because Doug's my kind of player. He can do a lot of things that other guys can't.
I'm not going to comment on anything until they do.
He seems to be a fan favorite, and he's fun to watch. Hopefully we'll see him scurrying down the field on special teams and when he's called on in the offense.
I think it's pretty obvious by the one offer they gave me and their reluctance to move beyond that point. Maybe I'd have the opportunity to stay there and win my job back once again. But since I kind of know where everybody stands in the organization and the people who are making the decisions, I don't think so.
Obviously I'd like to get this thing operated on as soon as possible. We're all very optimistic. The doctors are very optimistic, saying that this is something that they've seen before, done before, It shouldn't be a big deal.
They have a lot of pressure on them right now. I just wanted them to know their quarterback still loved them.
I couldn't say that was our motivation, but obviously we all knew about it. But Kansas City's 8-4 now, and we've got to go there. So there are plenty of tough tests ahead.
Obviously if Gates turns out missing the first game because of this, that's disappointing for everyone in this locker room because he is big part of our team and we don't want to see that happen.
Maybe I'm spoiled a little. I see it all the time, but he just never ceases to amaze me.
I feel like I'm getting the reps I need to prepare myself for the season. Each week I'm feeling more comfortable and getting better.
