team league gathering
No big league team is having a gathering like this 2 days before the season
good-man
Any time you put Matheny in, that's good managing.
baseball want montreal
Baseball will be back to Montreal, I want to see it. I want it to happen before I die. I will see it
waited
We waited a long time, so if we wait another day or two or three, it's OK.
disaster turned
We were right. But it turned out to be a disaster.
innings last runs three
We had one six-run inning, but that was it. There wasn't a whole lot going on. We did the same thing last night; we scored all our runs in one inning. That being said, I'd like two or three innings of scoring.
against guarded hurt last ourselves
We have guarded ourselves against some of the things that hurt us last year.
shut tired twice
We have been shut out twice on this trip. I wouldn't say we have tired bats, but we are a tired team.
expected games played six sort
Well, I'm sort of encouraged. He's been slow. I expected that to happen. I think the six consecutive games he played was probably too much. It set him back physically.
couple happens next
We'll see what happens in the next couple of days.
benefit concerned far game hit looking played team
We'll see where we can hit him that will benefit him the most and the team the most. As far as I'm concerned right now, it's cleanup. That's what we're looking at now but we haven't played one game yet.
baseball fight figured good guy knew matter player time
We knew he was going to fight his way out of it. A guy like that is just too good a baseball player ... We knew it was just a matter of time before he figured it out, and he did.
baseball expect feeling gets good hit knew time
We knew he was going to hit one. We knew he was going to hit more than one. We expect him to hit one every time he comes to the plate, and that's a good feeling even if he doesn't do anything. The anticipation gets everyone on their toes. What we need to do now is get him into good baseball shape, which he is not in now.
field home left ready run
We just want to get him ready on defense. To see him play left field now was more important than the home run he hit.
