You have to give him credit for some of it. But some of the responsibility falls on our shoulders. We're not swinging the bats very well.
You have to give the Korean team some credit. If you make a mistake they'll put the bat on the ball.
You have good results when you have good at-bats. And we had a lot of good at-bats tonight. Everybody chipped in.
You'd like to see him a little bit more in control, ... and understand, especially in this situation, the importance of having everybody available here and not being without one of your better players for any type of time, even if it's one game.
We are not catching the ball; we are not throwing the ball. We don't seem to be focused on what is going on out there and what the situation is.
We are not getting the production offensively for what we need to be successful.
We have to be patient a little longer with what we have. How much longer? I can't tell you right now. Certainly, we can't get ourselves buried to the point where we can't dig ourselves out of it if we get on a hot streak.
What we said when we sent him down was, 'Go down, get yourself going.' Did he do that? No. We just feel like he has proven he can hit up here before. ... We said we'll give him the first shot. Maybe he'll get going up here.
Where do you go back, stop and say, 'OK, when did he start using steroids?' To eliminate all that, and get the players' attention, you wipe the whole thing out.
We don't have the type of offense--I don't care if we are on track--to overcome that on a daily basis and we are not giving ourselves a chance to do anything because we are giving up the runs early.
We don't have to get that far ahead. That's a long way off.
We started making subtle changes during the course of that (1988) season and got prepared for '89,
We struggled through it, and nothing ever comes easy for us.
We struggled through it, ... Tomorrow, I'm back in the bullpen.
