If it bothered me, I wouldn't be where I am today. It's just like living in one area of town and you can't afford the things some of your friends can afford. Does that bother you? Subconsciously, it does a little bit. But you can't let it get the best of you and control your thought process. If you do, you won't have a very happy life.
It was probably the best game he's pitched in the last five or six ball games. His knee is getting better each start, and he is getting back to where he normally would be: that is hitting the corners with his pitches and changing speeds.
Just relax. All I tell him is to go out there and do the best he can. He's doing all right. It'll be trial-and-error for a while, maybe all year. Who knows?
He continues to improve. He continues to get sharper each time out, and his location was very good today. He had a very good outing today. Keep building -- that's what we look for. As you go along, you get better. This was his best outing so far.
I want to get him in the lineup, I want to give us the best chance we can to win, ... Watching him have a couple of good at-bats, watching him field ground balls and things, I think he'll be all right there. I've been told he can play shortstop, so it's not really foreign to him. All I'm asking him to do is make the routine plays.

He throws well enough to win up here. He's got to locate a little better up here to be successful.
He kept yapping at me, and I was talking at him, and he's telling me, 'No more,' but he's still yakking at me, ... I'm trying to tell him, 'You stop talking to me if I can't talk to you.'
All I said to him was that you should have been able to call that. To me that's not arguing balls and strikes,
He's very sensitive, and he has a mind-set. He lets you know how he feels.
I'm very proud of Brian the way he has progressed over the years, especially since he's been the everyday catcher. He's improved in his offensive part of the game, he's improved in his defensive part of the game and he's improved in his overall play -- pitch-calling. There's no reason why, and I expect him to continue to make that type of progress and continue to improve overall. Not just in his offense. I still think Brian has room to improve defensively and calling of games and handling the pitching staff in situations.
I keep my fingers crossed, but if they want to play in it I'm not going to try to talk them out of it. We're spreading (baseball goodwill) around. I just wish there was a better way to do it.

I just wanted to get it out of the way. That way it's not hanging out there in the blue.
