Joan Bonvicini
Joan Bonvicini is the former head coach for the Seattle University women's basketball team, the Redhawks, and one of only 18 coaches in Division I women's basketball history with 600 career victories. She was head coach at the University of Arizona for 17 seasons, leading the Wildcats to the Women's National Invitation Tournament championship in 1996. She was fired by Arizona on March 17, 2008 with one year left on her contract, after a disappointing 10-20 record in her final...
either
We think it's an MCL. Hopefully, she won't need surgery. But either way, it'll take her out for a little bit.
coming forward kids taller
We're going to be much taller and have a lot more depth. All the kids we have coming in are very successful, and we very much look forward to having them here.
addition coach good moment recruiting summer terrific
Todd, from the moment he's been here, (has been) very upbeat, and he is a very good coach. With recruiting during the summer and the camps, he already is a terrific addition to the staff.
fight run
We were disjointed. Someone would make a run on us and we wouldn't fight back as we should. We just had to get over this hump.
chance difficult start
We've had a difficult season. This was our chance to start over a little bit.
affect chance coming difficult felt outcome pressure start
We've had a difficult season, but we felt coming in that this was our chance to start over a little bit. We felt our (defensive) pressure could affect the outcome of the game.
playing
We were like playing 2 on 5 out there. I mean, really.
bottom line script
There can be a whole script of excuses, but the bottom line is, we've got to do better.
Let's just say it's going to be very competitive.
appeal gained liked opponents people pound realized respected successful sure
She wasn't sure she could be successful at this level. But with every pound she lost, she gained confidence. We realized she was funny, and she could appeal to people her own age. Opponents liked her and respected her, which you don't see a lot.
basketball believe gifts heard incredible love people truest
She was an incredible basketball player, but her truest gifts were her personality and love for the other people that she was with. Her voice, especially her laugh, could be heard for a block, and believe me, she was hilarious.
frustrated lose playing team
The team is frustrated because they want to win. We're playing to lose right now and not to win.
boards dominated game hurt second shooting
The thing that really hurt us was turnovers and shooting percentage. We didn't get much from our posts. We were out-rebounding them at halftime, and they just dominated the boards in the second half. This was a very disappointing game for us.
grieving happy hard process team
Even for me it's difficult, it really is. It's hard to say where the grieving process is, but I know right now I'm not happy with how the team is playing. I should say I'm more disappointed.
