against coach college dream felt finals smith
When I was a college coach, my dream was to play against Coach Smith in the finals of the NCAA. I always felt it would be a win-win, and I could probably say the same thing for (playing against) Pop.
grew proud
We grew up a lot. I'm proud of the way they played.
announced greatest honor olympic single tops
When I was announced as the Olympic coach, I thought that was the single greatest honor that I could have, ... This tops it all.
basketball conference eight hockey maybe played six stack teams terms twice
When I was a kid, they had six hockey teams, they had eight to 10 basketball teams. The teams played each other once, twice a week. Maybe we should stack (the schedule) a little in terms of conference games.
age reality sick wish
The reality is, I wish we had an age limit. I get sick to my stomach.
feeling finally nice struggling trying
We had been struggling badly. It's a nice feeling to have. We've been trying and finally got one.
figure fill
When the (season) is over, we've got two first-round picks, we've got expiring contracts, we've got assets. And we'll figure out, if we've got needs, how to fill them.
locker needed
With this win, in that locker room, they needed something positive.
aware basketball careers great guys history hockey later means older players realize sure teams until
I think a lot of the young players in basketball are not aware of what some of the older players in basketball have done, what they went through, and their accomplishments. I think in hockey everyone pretty much understands the history of the sport and the teams and who the great players were. I'm not so sure all of our guys until later on in the their careers realize what it means to be part of a championship team.
anybody best career conference effect eric finals free given guard nba outcome point rein surely workman
If you're the best player, surely you're going to have some effect on the outcome of a game. And I've said this from Day 1: I've never given anybody in my career more free rein in my career. And I went to the conference finals (in Indiana) with Haywood Workman as a point guard. With Eric Snow, who was the fourth-string point guard in Seattle. He went to the NBA Finals (with Philadelphia).
enthusiasm fight horrified looking proud
I was just looking for something to give us enthusiasm and effort, ... I would have been horrified if they didn't fight back. But I was proud of the effort.
evaluate
He's out 'til after All-Star break, and then we'll evaluate him after All-Star break.
francis impact practice steve
This is a process. We didn't have Steve Francis with us in practice and that's going to impact us.
coached
They said I was OK. I went to practice. I coached the game. I'm fine. It's a non-issue.
