The first point is always to believe in it when you go on court and then you have the chances to win.
It's really great to be back after all this time. I have very nice memories because I was the first female player to win the title here (in 2001). Hopefully these memories will inspire me and it will be a good week for me in this great event. I was always impressed with the modernity of Dubai and all that it has to offer.
Maybe all these three years, I freshened up a little. I'm just really enjoying every second of being around here.
I'm not looking for any excuses. She was just too good today. I've had a very good start to my comeback and I will go home with my head up.
Now I look at it differently because I'm a little older - I don't take it for granted anymore. When you're 17, 18, you think it's ongoing, but it's not. Now I know it. I try to do everything possible to not get any injuries. Be more disciplined.
I just really like playing here. I've always done well here in the past and those memories kicked in well.
Just wait until the next matches, I'll be even better.
I wouldn't necessarily say the draw has opened because she lost. I still have to go out there and do my best.
You can't hide. Sooner or later I have to play a top 10 player, better sooner than later. Win or lose, you know where you're at.
Playing the top players you have to play them over and over. You have to start believing and step by step I'm getting my confidence back.
I knew (Pin) was not going to overpower me. Sometimes in the windy conditions you have to be very careful to overdo it and you have to work your point out there.
I saw her when she was 12 and she was very good even then. You could hear her from like 10 courts further down.
I'm very excited. We've had great battles over the years, and now that I haven't played her since my comeback, it's definitely a great challenge. We always played one of the best matches because we knew every time we played, either we win the tournament or we were close to doing so. So (it) always brought the best tennis out of each other.
I'm very excited to be making my return to competitive tennis in Australia, I have always felt at home on the Australian courts.
