I'm very excited. We've had great battles over the years, and now that I haven't played her since my comeback, it's definitely a great challenge. We always played one of the best matches because we knew every time we played, either we win the tournament or we were close to doing so. So (it) always brought the best tennis out of each other.
I've played a lot of tennis this week and I'm not used to that.
It's great to be back out there. When you hear applause, people are there wanting to see you. It's great. And I played some good points early on, and then you just get going.
I'm not looking for any excuses, she was just too good today. I'm going home with my head up. This is a good start to my comeback. I don't think I played badly today, she was just too good. Being in the finals here in Tokyo really exceeded my expectations.
It was definitely a good performance today. I played smart and concentrated throughout the whole match. It was key in the first games to hold serve.
I want to see what she's got. I haven't played her since she was 12.
Everybody has always been asking me which player you want to play and I always said 'Maria,' because I've never played her and she's a great champion, she has won Wimbledon at such a young age.
If I play the tennis I played three years ago I would not survive. I know that.
I told her that if you played like that all the time, she would have won a Grand Slam already.
It was a pretty impressive win. The first set was a bit tough. I guess that was because we haven't played before. I didn't feel good at the beginning -- I guess today I won with my heart. I feel great to be in the semifinals.
You can't hide. Sooner or later I have to play a top 10 player, better sooner than later. Win or lose, you know where you're at.
Playing the top players you have to play them over and over. You have to start believing and step by step I'm getting my confidence back.
I knew (Pin) was not going to overpower me. Sometimes in the windy conditions you have to be very careful to overdo it and you have to work your point out there.
I saw her when she was 12 and she was very good even then. You could hear her from like 10 courts further down.
