ball singles win
We got two two-out singles from Berkman to win the ball game.
basically couple ready
We're basically ready to go. We just have to make a couple decisions.
days
We didn't take them for granted, we just didn't show up offensively today. Some days we're going to get them and some day we're not.
felt good less might obviously pressure runner struggled third took
We've struggled so much in getting the runner in from third with less than two outs, so it obviously felt good doing that. I think it took the pressure off everybody. Might have led to the three-run homer, too.
counting
We're not counting him out, but this is a day-to-day situation,
anticipate ball beat bit burst call doubt exciting feet game hits incredible last realize rookie season seeing seven six thrown tired umpire win year
If he hits a ball hard, you can get him out. If he hits it soft, he'll beat it out every time. He has an incredible burst the last 15 feet or so. There have been six or seven times this season when an umpire will anticipate a little bit and call him out and then realize that he was safe. I got thrown out of a game or two because I got tired of seeing that. I don't know if he's going to win the rookie of the year or not, but there is no doubt he's an exciting player.
andy bit figure five fortunate games knew roger rotten season
I knew we weren't a 15-under-.500 team. When the season started, I thought we were probably five games over .500. Then, if we got a little bit lucky, I thought we could be 10 games over. I think we're fortunate to be 14 over .500 because we didn't figure on Andy Pettitte (17-9, 2.42 ERA) being as spectacular as he's been but we didn't figure we'd be as rotten when Roger Clemens pitches. Go figure.
along becoming bit chance fail gotten letting luxury might platoon player seem stretch type
I don't see him as a platoon player by any stretch of the imagination, and in other circumstances, he might have gotten a chance to play every day, and you would have seem more of this type of player every day. We just didn't have the luxury of letting him fail a little bit along the way to becoming the player that he is.
answer anybody beat bit guys team understand
It was a little bit over the top, but a lot of guys have their styles. The thing of it is, we don't really have anybody on our team who does that. I understand guys have their individuality, but the way to answer that is to beat him.
advice bit decided push rest taken year
He could have taken the rest of the year just to rehab, which is probably a lot of the advice that he had received. He decided that he was going to push it a little bit and try to come back this year, just in case.
almost bit great ironically last longer looked looks month played season spring training
He's played well and ironically he looks great this spring. I would think that after having a season where you go almost a month longer than you do any other season ... he would have come to spring training and be a little bit slow. But he's actually looked better this spring than he did last spring.
ahead behind bit good job needed pitches
He did a good job of making pitches when he needed to. We'd like to see him pitch ahead a bit more. He got behind a lot of hitters. But he did a pretty good job of making the pitches when he had to.
bit couple games human looked pick
He's had a couple of games when he actually looked a little bit human - but sometimes we have to pick him up, too. Sometimes, you have to outscore the other team.
pick scientific
Pick 'em out of a hat. We just need somebody. Nothing scientific in the formula.
