ball singles win
We got two two-out singles from Berkman to win the ball game.
basically couple ready
We're basically ready to go. We just have to make a couple decisions.
days
We didn't take them for granted, we just didn't show up offensively today. Some days we're going to get them and some day we're not.
felt good less might obviously pressure runner struggled third took
We've struggled so much in getting the runner in from third with less than two outs, so it obviously felt good doing that. I think it took the pressure off everybody. Might have led to the three-run homer, too.
counting
We're not counting him out, but this is a day-to-day situation,
impressed players several
He's pitched well. I'm impressed with several of their young players ... him in particular.
calling pennant players rookie
I wasn't a rookie in pennant races, but I was a rookie calling the shots. The players made me look good.
fair far players tough
As far as the players were concerned, we thought he was fantastic. He was tough but he was always fair and this was a first-class organization when he was here.
along becoming bit chance fail gotten letting luxury might platoon player seem stretch type
I don't see him as a platoon player by any stretch of the imagination, and in other circumstances, he might have gotten a chance to play every day, and you would have seem more of this type of player every day. We just didn't have the luxury of letting him fail a little bit along the way to becoming the player that he is.
gesture nice
It was a very nice gesture on the club's part,
proverbial
He's the proverbial day-to-day. We'll have to see how he is as we go along.
scouting
They did it all the way up and down the lineup. That's what was different from the scouting reports.
farther four hit home maybe outcome pitch spot stupid throw wait
After you see that he hit a three-run home run, that's what I'm saying. When you see the outcome of what happened, you say, 'Well, maybe we should've put up four (fingers),' ... I would be stupid to say, 'All right, wait a minute, let me back this up and see if I can't throw a pitch in a little better spot than that and see how much farther he can hit it.'
baggy involved love nor propensity seen situation stretch unique
The Bagwell thing has the propensity to be difficult. We all love Baggy and this is a unique situation. In all my years in the game, I don't think I've seen a situation like this, nor have I been involved in one by any stretch of the imagination.
