bench brought everyday happy instead jason needs sitting spring training
Jason needs to get consistent, everyday at-bats instead of sitting on the bench here with us. We brought him up here from spring training to see where he's at, and we're happy with his progress.
anywhere everyday kyle offer player position somebody unless
That wasn't even part of the plan. Kyle was not going anywhere unless we had the right offer for somebody to get an everyday position player in here, or a DH.
consistent everyday happy needs
We're really happy with where he's at. He needs to go down and get some consistent at-bats on an everyday basis.
awhile brought everyday good kept missed needs rather sit year
He needs to go down and get everyday at-bats rather than sit up here on the bench. He's missed a year-plus of baseball. We brought him up here and kept him up awhile to see where he's at. He's doing pretty good after being out a year of baseball.
decision everyday opening until
A regular, everyday guy, yeah, were going to have one. But I don't have to make that decision until Opening Day.
bench coming cover everyday mind outfield playing puts ripping starts
If he starts ripping the cover off the ball, that always puts a thought in your mind to keep him. Playing everyday in the outfield is a better thing for him right now, so one thing I don't want is him here coming off the bench and being a pinch-hitter.
baker tough
I thought we pitched well enough to win. Baker battled through some tough jams and made some big pitches, but we didn't get it done offensively.
anywhere flip four games guys health played top worth
I think we're fine. Health-wise we're not where we need to be. We're 7-11 and played without our top two guys (Shannon Stewart and Luis Castillo) for four games now. ... Of course, we haven't played worth a flip on the road, and that's what's disturbing. You're not going to get anywhere doing that.
gives looking nice
It gives us those 82 wins, which is what everyone was looking for. It's not enough for us, but it's nice for the organization.
second time
I think the second time around we'll see where we're at here.
books-and-reading
Just another one for the books. Ohhhh God.
chance chip consistency good guys looking passed people pitcher talk wait
J.D., we're looking for a little more consistency from him. People talk about him being passed by, but he has the chance to be a good pitcher in this organization. He can't wait to get the ball. We like guys like that. He doesn't come in with a chip on his shoulder.
apologetic cared kyle
Kyle was apologetic and that's all I cared about,
balls home hurt last needed ourselves pitching runs strong throwing type
Last season, we hurt ourselves on the relays throwing home and balls getting through the infield. We just can't give away runs with this pitching staff. It's too good. So we needed that type of strong defense.
