When we get men into scoring position or on base, it's like we go into defensive mode instead of offensive mode. I don't know how to get guys out of it.

He's just got to learn to control everything a little better. He did a lot better last year, they told me, but he had the arm injury and it's just got to keep improving. He's getting better pitches to hit. That's what happens when you start swinging well. The pitcher makes mistakes and you hit it instead of fouling it off.

Last season, we hurt ourselves on the relays throwing home and balls getting through the infield. We just can't give away runs with this pitching staff. It's too good. So we needed that type of strong defense.

Andy watches it all the time, now we're talking to individual pitchers about doing it. They do go watch it when they come out of the games. They watch themselves a lot. It's not so much a concern about tipping pitches but making better pitches.
