ball deal game hear piece protecting thrown throws umpire
Getting thrown out of the game is no big deal for me. Just protecting your players. I thought the ball was low. You say your little piece and the umpire doesn't want to hear it and he throws you out of the game.
ear goes rest
Ideally, we'll just see how it goes and play it by ear the rest of the way,
base coached third
I coached third base for 10 years and I don't second-guess my third base coaches.
confidence good huge inner knows
Carlos knows how good he is. And that kind of inner confidence is huge in making it here.
reason risk
Carlos is getting better, but there's no reason to risk anything here where it's so cool, not when he's come this far.
adapt guys hit
Carlos can hit anywhere. He's one of those guys who can adapt to any situation, I believe.
coming guys perfect talked time
This was the perfect time to do it. I always like to let the guys know where I'm coming from. We talked hitting, we talked defense. It's something I don't think we do enough of in baseball.
felt hitting morning pitching urgency work
We flip-flopped things this morning to get the pitching and hitting in before that. We're going to work on our fundamentals all spring, so we felt like that wasn't an urgency right now.
chance five games gives guys lock next pitch ready sure themselves
We have 25 games left, and we have to go for it, ... I want to make sure that my next five guys know what they need to do and know that they're going to pitch and they can get themselves ready for the ballgame. This gives them a better chance to just lock in.
hear
You hear a little of this, ... But that's all right.
next past
To get to the next level, we have to get way past that thinking.
pitch successful teams
You have to pitch inside. Most teams that are successful pitch in there. No big deal. Just baseball.
adjust learned pace selective
You have to pace yourself. You have to adjust mentally. When you get tired, you're not selective enough. He's learned a little about making adjustments.
nice slogan
You have to have that every year, especially in this town. That's a nice slogan to adopt.
