brought burning lord peace siblings sins
Peace and tranquility have come; the Guru, the Lord of the Universe, has brought it. The burning sins have departed, O my Siblings of Destiny.
attach company good heed led lord men mind pay talents
Pay no heed to little worries; attach your mind to the Lord and then you will be led to the Company of good men and your talents will be transmuted.
birth purpose recurring sequence
Illumination is the purpose of life; of the recurring sequence of birth and death.
broad fortune foundation mountain sit taken time unto
I have taken unto myself her fortune and her glory, as a wreath off a tree. Like a mountain with broad foundation may she sit a long time with her parents!
dear enemies help near subdue
I subdue enemies with the help of my 'knowledge' and 'enlighten' near and dear ones!
acquires becomes company knowledge learned living man souls
By living in the company of learned souls a man acquires knowledge and becomes well cultured.
crossed servant terrifying united
By His Grace, servant Nanak has crossed over this terrifying world-ocean; I am united with my Beloved.
body breath collect firm shall sight soul stand
His breath shall come, his soul shall come, his sight shall come, and, too, his strength! His body shall collect itself, then shall he stand firm upon his feet!
brings eternal glorious love meeting sings
His Love brings eternal peace; meeting the Guru, Nanak sings His Glorious Praises.
attachment deep defeat eat filled fingers five meal single solving sought stomach taken wish work
Can you eat a meal with a single finger? When the five fingers work in unison, the stomach is filled in five minutes! So, no attachment should be developed; no wish is to be welcomed, nothing is to be sought for; and no defeat is to be taken to heart, without solving deep into the consequences.
body grace met mind
By the Grace of the Saints, Nanak has met the Lord; his mind and body are soothed and satisfied.
far understanding
I have no beauty, understanding or strength; I am a stranger, from far away.
doubt emotional feet tied
In doubt and emotional attachment, this person understands nothing; with this leash, these feet are tied up.
appear beautiful decorate herself sixteen woman
I may have a beautiful woman with fascinating eyes; she may decorate herself with the sixteen adornments, and make herself appear gorgeous.
