Barry Lee Alvarezis a former American football coach who is currently the athletic director at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He served as the head football coach at Wisconsin for 16 seasons, from 1990 to 2005, compiling a career college football record of 118–73–4. Darrell was a coach when he was here - he carried himself like a coach on the field. He always thought like a coach. He wasn't a gifted athlete but he always knew where to go with the ball. I don't think there was ever any question what he wanted to do. He was going to coach some day.

I tried to avoid making a big deal about this being my final game. I had some emotional moments -- the last game at Camp Randall (Stadium), the ceremony after, the banquet.

But he's in the shotgun and a lot of it is quick releases. A lot of it is sprint-outs, where it's hard to get to him anyhow. They've devised a scheme where it's difficult to really pressure him. You're not going to get many sacks.

Many times they were trying to run with a linebacker on him, which is very difficult, if you're asking a linebacker to play run support and also play the tight end.
