cherish dealt favorite football game great guess hit john love mean players seeing takes water win
I don't mean to be short, but we have dealt with this all year. I guess it was when the water hit me on the back when the game was over. That's it. There is nothing like seeing a quarterback take a knee. I love that play. That's my favorite play in football when John takes a knee. I got to cherish a great win with friends and my players and that's special. I couldn't find a better way to go out.
coming empty hard home time
I'd have a hard time coming home to an empty house. That would be very hard for me.
beat coast momentum remember swing ten west win
I can remember through the '80s, no one in the Big Ten could out to the West Coast and win and then in the '90s, they couldn't beat us. It's cyclical. It's a swing in momentum in conferences.
I couldn't think of a better way to go out.
good heavier played pounds satisfied year
I don't think he's ever satisfied with how he played, and he played very well, ... He's much stronger, probably 20 pounds heavier than he was a year ago, and that's good weight.
across best clearer coach days finish help next parent playing point prepare responsibility talking whether
It's our responsibility to help prepare them for when their playing days are over whether it's when they finish playing for us or when they finish playing at the next level. The best way to do that is have someone who has experienced it. The point comes across much clearer than a coach talking to you or even a parent doing the same thing.
athlete carried coach gifted himself knew question
Darrell was a coach when he was here - he carried himself like a coach on the field. He always thought like a coach. He wasn't a gifted athlete but he always knew where to go with the ball. I don't think there was ever any question what he wanted to do. He was going to coach some day.
sick
That just makes you sick when something like that happens.
absolutely fitting last
It's absolutely fitting that this is my last team.
covering good guess looked proud return took
It never looked like he was tired. I guess that's a good thing with having those 18-year-old legs. They don't get tired, those kids. Man, did he play. I'm really proud of him. That's unbelievable. Then he's covering punts and on the punt return and kickoff team. We took him off some of that.
avoid camp ceremony deal emotional final game last moments tried
I tried to avoid making a big deal about this being my final game. I had some emotional moments -- the last game at Camp Randall (Stadium), the ceremony after, the banquet.
days dog learn light push work
It's the Dog Days of camp. You can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. But this is where you have to work through it. This is where you can get your conditioning and learn to push yourself when you're tired.
backs game last physical respect spread stop week
It's going to be a very physical game, a game where you're going to have to take on linemen and stop very outstanding backs and then still respect the throw. Where last week was you're spread all over the field, this is a little more conventional.
determine field special teams third
That's a third of the game, ... And special teams determine field position.
